What are temporary tattoos?2018-11-29T15:47:11+01:00

What are temporary tattoos?

Temporary tattoos, which are also known as tattoo stickers, skin tattoos or skin stickers, are a special decal for the human skin. A special paper with a protective foil is printed by us with skin-friendly colors and provided with skin-friendly adhesives. With water, this image can be transferred to the skin.

Our tattoos are therefore no stickers and not made on the basis of alcohol, such as products from the supermarket. It also does not contain henna, which may contain carcinogens and has therefore been banned in some countries.

The term “tattoo” originally refers to a permanent tattoo. In contrast, temporary tattoos are temporary body jewellery. With simple products such as plaster remover you can remove the picture again.

Since temporary tattoos remain on the skin for a longer period of time – up to 10 days – they are subject to special European cosmetics regulations. During this time, these products must not give off any harmful substances.

History

In the 1960s, some chewing gum manufacturers added simple, mostly blue, tattoo images to their products. Even German and Austrian children of the 1980s and 90s found now and then these Tattoosticker in gumball machines or stalls in the swimming pool.

Initially, these were mirror-inverted motifs which were pressed onto a moist skin area and remained visible as an impression for a short time. Today’s products are much more advanced and durable. The waterproof and sweat-resistant images remain visible on the skin for up to 10 days – depending on the stress on the body.

How is a temporary tattoo made?

In a special process, the ink is printed on a specially coated paper. The certified and skin-friendly adhesive then connects the motif with the skin.

Where are the tattoos produced?2018-11-29T15:39:47+01:00

The production at Print Tattoo by Stainer takes place without exception in Austria – 100% made in Austria.
